The Mitte Home cartridge is inspired by the naturally occurring process when rainwater filters through different compositional layers of rock, absorbing their dissolved mineral salts, and emerges at the source saturated with those minerals.
In the cartridge, the tap water is first primed for mineralization with the addition of small amounts of CO₂ in order to acidify it. This is our proprietary mineralization technique which allows the added calcium and magnesium to be fully dissolved.
Once mineralized, it moves onto two filtration stages: in the first, it passes through an activated carbon filter, derived from coconut shells, which filters out chlorine and heavy metals, such as lead, cadmium, chromium and mercury.
The second filtration step uses a high-quality, hollow fiber filter manufactured by a premium supplier. This is a physical filtration, a layer that catches 99,99999% bacteria as well as microplastics and nanoplastics up to 0.2 μm. Once the mineralization and filtration steps are complete, the water is delivered into the bottle.
